It was Erik’s pick this week and he picked the 1994 horrorish, comedyish movie Brainscan! We had Aaron on for this one and we DIDN’T get really drunk. Depending on how you look at it, could go either way.

This week on Second Class Cinema we watched a film recommended to us by the fine folks over at Bad Movie Sunday! We had the pleasure(?) of viewing 1982’s “superhero”/mercenary oddity, Megaforce.
When the peaceful country of Sardun finds itself at odds with their neighboring country of Gamibia, they have no way to defend themselves from an impending invasion- or even war. Enter Megaforce: a secret mercenary company comprised of soldiers from all over the world, headed by Commander Ace Hunter (a flamboyant, gold-spandex-clad Barry Bostwick). Sardun sends one of their military leaders, Major Zara, to request Megaforce’s assistance in crushing their opponent, Gamibia- which just happens to be led by Hunter’s old military pal, Duke Gurerra.
The stakes are… Surprisingly low… as Megaforce uses holographs, spandex, and flying motorcycles to bring Gamibia to heel.
We had some fun watching this one, although, it was difficult to figure out who the target audience for this film was. Listen up as we discuss awesome pyrotechnics, awesomely bad rear-projection scenes, and a grotesquely sappy thumb-kiss that no one should ever be subjected to. Ever.
Thanks to our pals at Bad Movie Sunday for recommending this flick.

It was Brittany’s pick this week so we watched the movie a Drafthouse Films release, The Visitor from 1979! This sci-fi, Cronenbergesque movie left us wondering a lot of things. About whether or not it was us or the movie that was incomprehensible. That ever happen to anyone? Well it happened to us tonight!

Watch this not so bad fight scene
Hello Citizens!
We watched a submission film this week, and boy, was it weird. Erik’s sister Melissa recommended a bunch of awesomely terrible looking flicks to us, and while we wish we could say that the cream always rises to the top… We just aren’t goddamn liars.
We ended up picking the 1982 sci-fi/fantasy film, She. When Tom and Dick’s sister Shandra is kidnapped by the evil, football-pad-wearing Norks, they set off on an adventure to save her. On the way, they become entangled with She, the leader of a local tribe of Amazon-eque female warriors. She begrudgingly decides to help them rescue their sister. Along the way they encounter everything you could possibly imagine- from radioactive mutants and toga-wearing werepires, to a telepathic god named Godan. Will they make it past their many obstacles and rescue Shandra before it’s too late? Typically we have a lot of complaints about films that beat their viewers to death with their heavy-handed exposition… But in this case, it would have been more than welcomed. This is a lengthy saga, with very little explanation of, well, anything. We had to just take it at face value. Would we recommend it? Listen up and find out!

It’s STILL Horror Movie Month here and we kept it going with another one of Brittany’s picks, the 1987 movie Monster Squad. Special guest Dan comes on to help us discuss this childhood favorite!

Keeping on with Horror Movie Month, we watched something a little more traditional in style, kind of. Tom picked the 1987 sci-fi/horror movie The Kindred! This was an interesting watch for us because we really had no clue what we were getting in to. Brandon came on to help us discuss this movie, and this is one of his personal favorites. He even brought an old Fangoria magazine that had an article about this movie. Where do you think this movie will measure on the Fuck scale?

We take in our 50th episode with Erik’s pick for our horror movie adventure this month with the Japanese horror/comedy Wild Zero! Yes. We did in fact play along with the drinking game portion of this movie. Our friend Jimmy comes on to help us drink, discuss and debate.

The Trailer for Double Down (2005)
The Trailer for I Am Here…. Now (2009)
The Trailer for Fateful Findings (2013)
On this week’s episode, we did something we’ve never done before…. We covered THREE movies. That’s right. That means we sat through 3 movies in a row and then recorded this VERY long episode after. It was grueling. Aaron’s back in town to discuss all three of Neil Breen’s movies; Double Down (2005), I Am Here…. Now (2009) and Fateful Findings (2013). Listen up to find out how they all measured up during our ratings! This episode is a healthy 1 hour 45 minutes, so god bless you all.
