It was Tom’s pick this week and he used a bit of outside influence for his selection. The movie is 1991’s martial art, action, comedy Breathing Fire. Tom was merely a bystander on twitter when the The Bristol Bad Film Club (@TheOtherBBFC) tagged him in an image that Crap Film Clun (@CrapFilmClub) posted. About 5 minutes later Tom was sitting anxiously at his doorstep waiting for his newest eBay purchase to arrive. After it’s arrival, and with little to no expectation of the movie, it was put it on the television and allowed it into the hearts of Second Class Cinema. Tyler came on to watch this movie with us and as he states in this episode, this movie changed his life.
Special guest: Tyler
Can I get a pepperoni pizza but with no sauce or cheese? Oh also can you replace the pepperoni’s with 2 giant keys? That’s fine I’ll pay more.
It was Brit’s turn to pick the flick this week, so of course we ended up watching a horror-comedy… Only this time, it was a film from 2015, and not the late 80’s. Baby steps. Taryn joined us once again this week to view and discuss the 2015 meta/slasher/comedy, The Final Girls.
3 years after her mother’s untimely death, Max Cartright agrees to attend a screening of her mom’s most famous movie- the 80’s slasher flick, Camp Bloodbath. After a series of unlikely events, Max and a group of friends find themselves IN the movie. They have to learn the rules of the film, save Max’s mom, and live til morning if they want to escape Camp Bloodbath. But who will be the Final Girl?
Tom put it best when he described this film as “an a-movie disguised as a b-movie”. In this episode we discuss paying homage to horror classics, the mother-daughter relationship at the heart of the film, and the insanely enjoyable casting choices.
It was Brittany’s turn to pick the flick this week, and I’m sure you will all be very shocked to hear that she picked yet another horror comedy. Taryn joined us once again, and we watched 1988’s Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama, and it sure was a movie.
After getting caught sneaking into a sorority house to watch the initiation ceremony, a group of geeks are forced to escort the sorority pledges on the last mission of their initiation- sneak into the local mall/bowling alley, steal a bowling trophy, and bring it back to their senior sorority sisters. Along the way they encounter a punk chick named Spider (who is also robbing the Bowl-o-Rama), a ghoulish little clay-mation imp, and lot of other things that really don’t matter or make sense in the least.
Listen up as we discuss uncomfortably lengthy and awkward sex scenes, jokes with no punchlines, and Linnea Quigley as the one enjoyable aspect of this film. Enjoy!
We are RAPIDLY approaching Christmas here on Second Class Cinema so Tom thought it was only appropriate to bring a little Christmas spirit with him on his selection this week. We watched the 1996 Hulk Hogan holiday ho-down Santa With Muscles. We had special guest Tyler on to help us discuss this one. This is the SECOND Hulk Hogan movie he’s been on for so we’re becoming experts on the subject. Do we shatter our rating system trying to figure this one out!?

What’s a movie without an ice cream truck full of goons?
We are keeping up with Horror Movie Month by watching a DOOOOOUBLE FEEEEEATURE! We watched May and The Loved Ones, a couple of SCAAAAARY LAAAAAADIES! We had b-movie professional and our friend Fallon come on to help us dive deep in to the insanity of a woman.
We continue watching horror movies with Brittany’s pick this month, the comedy/horror movie My Boyfriend’s Back! We realize that for horror movie month we have been picking things that are horror second and something else first, but hey that’s still ok, right? OH WELL! Special guest Tee comes on and helps us talk about this movie and we discuss whether or not this movie’s original rating was warranted in contrast to some other movies from the same time period. We have some cool info about the movie too listen up!
We take in our 50th episode with Erik’s pick for our horror movie adventure this month with the Japanese horror/comedy Wild Zero! Yes. We did in fact play along with the drinking game portion of this movie. Our friend Jimmy comes on to help us drink, discuss and debate.
It’s still Kid’s Movie Month and we had ourselves a DOUBLE FEEEEATURE! It was ninja night here on Second Class Cinema as we watched both 3 Ninjas: High Noon at Mega Mountain and Surf Ninjas! Erik picked Surf Ninjas while we decided to pad out the ninja night with 3 Ninjas HNAMM as it’s been requested by multiple people. Tyler decided to come on by (who is ultimately getting the blame for 3 Ninjas) to help us to discuss these movies. Which one of these is ultimately the best ninjas movie for kids?
